The compulsory academic programme - subjects related to philosophy and culture, foreign languages, history and theory of different kinds of art.

more profound studies of subjects related to culture, psychology, pedagogy, fundamentals of cultural management;
in Cultural sociology and Administration - sociological and environmental culture subjects, subjects of cultural infrastructure organisation, fundamentals of cultural management;
in Cross-Cultural Communication – state language, general history and cultural history of the respective country - Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Great Britain, Spain, Germany, France; problems of modern society, organisational fundamentals of cultural relations;

Compulsory area of study - subjects related to philosophy and culture, history and theory of different kinds of art, foreign languages.
Special area of study -
in Mastery of Performing Actors - mastery of performing actors, movement, dance, vocal technique studies; rhetoric, etc.;
in Theatre and TV Drama Studies – drama theory, analysis of dramatic texts, critique, theatre, TV, film drama, particularities of TV scripts, particularities of TV production organisation and script writer; marketing in films, TV and theatre; 2 course projects (chamber play and script for  short film (TV or cinema)) etc.
in TV Direction - TV direction, TV genres, TV acting, camera-man mastery, script, information, documentary and feature video films, fundamentals of mastery of performing actors, movement, vocal technique studies, etc. 2 course projects;
in Camera-man Mastery and TV Journalism - camera-man mastery, camera narrative, TV techniques, TV direction,  photography, TV genres, TV news production, TV journalism, etc. Practical work;

Programme annotation

The programme includes lecture courses in German and in Latvian, based on practical examples, as well as practical lessons.
This is the programme “Management of Culture and Mass Media” (Hamburg School of Music and Theatre), adapted and complemented for needs and requirements of Latvia. The aim of the programme is to prepare students who would be able to introduce Latvian artists and cultural institutions to German-speaking Europe professionally and optimally, as well as to organise events in Latvia in order to increase cultural tourism.
Simultaneously, according to international standards, students have to acquire management and media marketing.

Programme annotation

1.      The programme consists of four blocks:
Discovering director’s personality.
Arranging director’s intellect and mastery
Fixing director’s specialisation
Summarising results of research (theoretical) and practical work- diploma paper.

Doctoral programme

Programme leading to doctoral degree in art (Dr.art.).
Sub-speciality- Theory of culture.
The aim of the programme is to train specialists for academic and research work in humanities’ field according to contemporary requirements for scientific knowledge.
Duration of full time studies is 3 years, duration of part time studies- 4 years.
